CIC President volunteers at St. James Town tournament

CANADÁ - Julio 2013

St. James Town community residents from ages 7 to 70 put their chess skills to the test during a chess tournament on July 6, 2013. The tournament was held at the St. James Town Community Corner (SJTCC), or “The Corner”, as it is known to locals. Located in the St. James Town community, The Corner houses various spaces dedicated to local initiatives and services that benefit the neighbourhood.

The tournament was organized by staff and volunteers of the SJTCC, including resident and high school student Kuhan Jeyapragasan. Jeyapragasan is a former CIC chess student, having participated in a chess club run by President and Founder, Ted Winick, at Rose Avenue Public School several years ago.

The CIC donated their clocks and chess sets to the event, and Winick volunteered his time as Tournament Director.
